I have been seeing all day on the news about that kid, (the alleged singer), Justin Beiber, the one with the big hair--who has been making millions of dollars since he was 12 or so--now in a red jumpsuit with his hair just perfect, (I'm sure HE thinks anyway!), and with a big smile on his face. He was arrested in Florida for drag racing, and drinking while drag-racing and allegedly, with marijuana and prescription drug of unknown persuasion in his Lamborghini! This right after a Hollywood actor from the Fast and Furious movies was killed when he and his friend got in a fast car and went to fast. They died on impact on a LA street and the car burst into flames.
This Beiber kid is 19-years-old! But does he care? And, he knows that any press is GOOD press for people in entertainment! And we know that the kids who worship this kid are going to want to emulate what he does.
I know we can't blame parents for what these kids do....but who do we look to? I mean there's SOMETHING wrong here! I know there are good, wonderful parents who have done everything in their power to raise their kids right, to see that they knew right from wrong, to make sure they were in church, etc.---only to see them in a jumpsuit of their own, in another courtroom with their own big troubles! I've known people personally who have been through this right in my own town, and you probably have, too.
All I can think of today is....we're out of control! There seems to be no respect for authority anymore. In fact, there seems to be no authority anymore!
There seem to be few people who believe in morality anymore. If they do, where are they, and why don't we hear from them? We've become a society of relativism, and to me--everything is NOT relative! People can say, "Well, nothing is certain?" To which I must reply (and I got this from Ravi Zacharias!), "Are you certain that nothing is certain? Didn't you just contradict yourself?"
That always makes me smile! The "law of non-contradiction"!
Our politicians say one thing and do another! It seems they'll say anything you want to hear to get elected, and when they safely ensconced in office, they change into whatever they always planned anyway. I don't think that should be legal. I think, when that happens, the ones who voted for them should be allowed to vote them RIGHT BACK OUT right then!
Oh my! I am sure you are bored. You don't like to wath the news either, do you!?
I just got a notation in the mail today for Mama....(yes, we still get some mail for her after 3 years!)...for "THE GOOD OLD DAYS" magazine!
I miss some of our good old days! And I know they weren't always good,.and yes, I like having running water, and a washing machine, and a computer, etc!
SO, I'm just going to show you some of my "good old days" pictures--maybe some will jog your memory into thinking of ---and looking for ---some of your own! I'd love to see them!
This first picture is Mama after she graduated high school, and before she married Daddy. Wasn't she a cutie?
And then....Mama the day she graduated!
And one of Mama the day she and Daddy got married (on Christmas Day of 1937)...she told me her brother told Daddy, "Jimmy, please buy Margaret another hat!"
She always remembered him saying that!! She always laughed about it, and still said, "I still like that hat, though!"
And hopefully, maybe blogger has it right, and beside that is the last picture I ever took of Mama--a few days before she fell and broke her leg and had to have surgery I still miss her, and the good old days..

That Beiber kid ~ not his parents fault ~ he's probably as lost as the day is long and he's living a very worldly life ~ caught up in all Satan has to offer.
ReplyDeleteYou're absolutely right, it's all out of control! Unfortunately, I read the news tonight!
Your momma was a beautiful lady. :-)
The good ole' days ~ I'm glad I got to live through them!
Hugs and love,
AGreen x
You are so right---he is lost and doesn't even know it, I fear! How scary---I think our children and parents, too, have lost their respect and healthy fear and love for God, Anne. :(
DeleteP.S. It's cold here! 4 F and dropping!
ReplyDeleteBrrrrrrrrrr, kiddo. It's actually supposed to get up to 30 here! Wonder if we should drag our summer clothes out! Stay warm, my friend!
DeleteI was watching a program for Country Classic Music over the weekend and I knew all the words to the songs...made me start thinking about the days gone by, they were so good. The 50's were terrific not so much the 60's, I think that's where all the free love and disrespect started. It's gotten worse over the years and now anyhting goes and we seem to celebrate it. Bad behavious equals lots of money.
ReplyDeleteI love the photos of your mom, she was such a lovely woman. I know how you miss her. My mom has been gone 18 years next month and there is not a day that I don't think of her or miss her.
Keep blogging even if you got bullet points!!!
We love those old shows, too, joanne---we sit here and sing along! I don't think stop missing our Mamas--ever! I think she was pretty, too, thanks! You're right---the 60s were a change for the worse and we have steadily declined. :(.
DeleteAnd, things seem to still be declining; it's scary really. I'm concerned for my 'greats' that they'll become caught up in some of this, but what can a person do other than love them to pieces. I hope you've been able to have the cataract surgery by now. As you can see, I'm starting at the beginning of your writings. :)
